The 2025 UniSport Nationals were hosted in Brisbane, Queensland, with the judo competition held at the Chandler Centre on Sunday, 28 October 2025. University athletes from across Australia came together to compete for national honours — and Western Australia’s judoka delivered a perfect record.

This year, three WA judoka competed, and remarkably, all three went on to claim gold medals. Their victories not only highlighted individual excellence but also ensured WA universities made their mark on the national medal tally. The champions were:

  • Kohsei Toyoshima (UWA Judo Club) — Senior Men / -73 kg — representing the University of Queensland
  • Alexander Vasilyev (UWA Judo Club) — Senior Men / -81 kg — representing the University of Western Australia
  • Estela Hogarth (UWA Judo Club) — Senior Women / -70 kg — representing Edith Cowan University

The judo competition saw strong performances across the country, with Monash University topping the standings ahead of Griffith University in second and the University of the Sunshine Coast in third. While WA universities fielded only single competitors, both still broke onto the standings thanks to their champions. Both The University of Western Australia and Edith Cowan University (ECU) finished equal 8th with one gold.

Congratulations to Kohsei, Alexander, and Estela for proudly representing Western Australia and their universities at UniSport Nationals 2025.
